I just got back from a shower for couples held for some friends of mine. First of all, it was in the evening. Formal wear anyone?? Am I that old now that when I see on an invitation, evening shower DINNER PARTY that I think, well, hey, I should dress up???? Do people not do this anymore? I show up in a fruffy aqua skirt, white shirt, khaki sweater and khaki flats with some trendy jewelry and worried I may be UNDER DRESSED. HAH! There were multiple people in CHACOS for crying out loud. I was the only girl in a skirt, and the one that should NOT have been in one being that I had Summit with me and he wanted to crawl around on the floor or be held, somewhat uncharacteristically. (shouts of jubilee and shouts of anger all sound the same in a baby’s ears…)
I either sat rigidly uncomfortable in a chair, trying to modestly cross my legs while people took pictures (flashbacks of Colorado and the skirt fiasco) or sat on the floor vainly trying not to flash my dimpled legs at the poor men that were there. (sigh.) Other than my being overdressed being too big of a deal in my wild mind, it was fun. OH, and other than the fact I looked like a single mom and was an apparent, 3rd wheel, 5th wheel or whatever deal (complete with the pity, “I’ll park your car!” which was actually veery nice response to my panicked, “I can’t parallel park! Thanks John!) that made me an odd numbered party, especially for dinner seating and my child was the child there that everyone was thinking “why did she bring him?” because he was noisy and cranky. WELL, AT LEAST I DIDN’T WEAR CHACOS!!!
We left early.
PS can anyone spare a roll of tp? I’m down to 1/2 a roll, I have gone to Wal-Mart specifically 2 times to get some, even going as far as to write it on my hand, but the clever marketing department has done their job well. Darn you!
