It ended better. He was still sick and had a fever, but there were times that he was marginally happy. When I opened his presents, he was very interested. He screamed when I tried to give him cake (so much for messy cake pics) but luckily he went to bed happy. The party was a success though! We had about 20 people there (was it only 20??) and it was a blast! My nieces and nephews were like a pack of wolves running around wild outside and I found some sticks in the entry after they left. hmmm. My nieces ransacked my closet for some reason and I spent 20 minutes hanging up clothes and putting shoes back on shelves after they left.
I had fun decorating the house for him. I got a banner and some balloons, then put streamers up! To me, a first birthday is a big deal, like sweet 16 or 21. It meant a lot to me how many people came over to help me celebrate. Maybe it’s being a mom now or something, but I’m so sappy now!! Complimenting my child like this is the nicest thing you can do for me. I’ll post pics and video tomorrow!
