Starting today, we are implementing a new routine as well as some guidelines and THEMED DAYS! I am seriously so excited about this…
However, I am a great visionary, with sometimes less than stellar results in the actual DOING. So, with that being said, I am giving you permission my sweet commentators (and just to clarify, all of our readers are sweet, but only the commentators are getting the permission) to hold me accountable. This is what is up on our Family Chalk Board:
Everything on the left seems self explanatory. This was our thinking on the themed days of the week: (the kids helped me)
Movie Monday– Monday evenings will be family movie night. Depending on our budget and attitudes during the week, once a month we will go to the theater, otherwise this will normally be an at home activity. All of the movies we want to see will be put in a movie jar and we will draw one out to avoid favoritism. (Do you have any movie suggestions?)
No Tech Tuesday-Tuesday will be our ‘unplugged’ day. Except for the computer to do school on, and checking email that night. This will be good, not just for the kids, but for me too. So, if you see me post on Facebook, feel free to BUST me! If you want to have contact with us on Tuesdays, you are going to have to go ‘old school’ and use the telephone. (And just so you know how OLD SCHOOL I am talking, here is a photo of our phone.)
Wonka Wednesday-Being home-schooled, hanging out with friends is one thing they crave. So, Wednesdays will be our day to pick up one of their friends from school, grab some Wonka candy, and hang out until church that evening…expect a call from me soon to schedule your kid time to hang out with us! The only things I know for sure is:
There will be candy consumption!
I will feed them dinner!
We will read this book out loud (it’s tradition at my house)! Andy Andrews is one of my favorite authors…
Thankful Thursday-This day will be set aside for writing letters to friends and family, and baking cookies for people who have touched our lives that week. We will also be adding things to our ‘Gratitude Jar’ to be read on New Year’s Eve so we can remember our blessings from the previous year and start off the New Year with hearts full of thankfulness for our blessings!
F’ville Friday– (Fayetteville Friday) This day will be errand day, library day, Sam’s Club day…whatever else needs to be done in F’ville for that week. Cutting down to one major day a week in town will be great for us. Living in the country makes you want to stay home, just sayin’!
Super Saturday-Saturday’s will be left open to interpretation for the most part. Everyone will be able to do what they want (within reason) to make this day SUPER for them, or someone else.
Silent Sunday– Ahhh, a day of rest! God really knew what He was doing now, didn’t He?
So, as we get started with our new schedule, what are some things that you do with your kids standard throughout the week?
P.S. The kids also have new chore charts that are homemade by ME! I will post photos of them soon…I love the way they turned out!
