I just got back from Wal-Mart where I saw Anna Duggar, the Duggars’ oldest son Josh’s wife, who is expecting their first child. They found out the sex of the child on the Morning Show a couple of weeks ago. She was talking to some people that I know from church. It is so weird to recognize someone from TV and see them at your local Wal-Mart shopping.
*******
I saw Jim Bob Duggar the other month at Wal-Mart at the check out over from mine and I was like, “Hey Jim Bob!”
He smiled back diplomatically at me, flanked by two members of the TLC crew people and he had no idea who I was. I reminded him that we had taken the 12 week birthing class together for his 17th child and I saw him recall the memory slowly. He came over, asked about Sum and told me that he was going on a camping trip that weekend with his girls. We chatted for a few more minutes before the TLC people awkwardly standing there made it obvious they were on more of a schedule than Jim Bob was apparently.
If I could get a sticker that said I *heart* the Duggars I’d totally put it on my car. Or not, really, because I don’t put bumper stickers on my cars, but I’d put it on my nalgene at least. I really like them. I think people have such a misconception of who they are. I’ve heard people vehemently attack them, and it makes me sad. I’ve been to their house, had a meal and experienced their hospitality. There are so many dysfunctional families in the country with children growing up unsupervised and undisciplined. The Duggars’ way of raising their children, and their decision to have so many children is a bit unorthodox, but they are doing a good job. Their children are a delight and I admire them.
Cheeseball post as it is, Happy 4th.
