When I was in college, every little bit of money helped. I applied for scholarships in high school, got one, and worked part time to pay for books and food. I was super busy and once I was in college I didn’t pursue scholarship options and I regret that now. Every year college students graduate with thousands, or tens of thousands, in debt. I’d encourage students to apply for as many scholarships as they can because it’s FREE MONEY.
That being said, I’ll quickly tell you about the Dr. Pepper & Murphy USA College Tuition Scholarship opportunity: “Exclusively at Murphy USA and Murphy Express locations, enter for your chance to win a $1,000 college scholarship! Simply text “TUITIONMURPHY” to 737737.”
So- there are no hoops to jump through, no story to write or application to fill out. I think the fact it’s so easy throws people off actually. Everyone I talked to looked at me blankly and said, “what’s the catch?” and there isn’t one. If you or someone you know is in college, tell them about this. It’s worth sending a quick text.

I was suppose to be shopping for Dr. Pepper 10- a new product from Dr. Pepper that only has 10 calories per 12 ounce can but we don’t have that product around here yet! Talk about blocked goals! I was SO excited about trying the product and saving all the calories I drink every day from the regular Dr. Pepper. (I don’t like the taste of Diet Dr. Pepper) I can’t wait until it’s out and will probably do an (unpaid) blog post on it.
Here is a video of me talking about my experiences with the challenge and a few shots of me around town. It was a little frustrating that people didn’t want me to record them talking and BARELY let me take a few pictures. OH WELL. I’m still planning on telling my college friends about the scholarship because it’s a quick and easy way to have a chance at $1,000.
