I went to Toys R Us for the first time yesterday. I always think ingnorance is bliss so what I didn’t know they had, I didn’t covet. Well, thats been blown! They really do have “from bikes to trains to video games” and beyond. (they were actually out of most of their video games due to a big sale) I managed to limit myself to a cool sippy cup with a straw, as I’m trying to straw train Summit, (last night didn’t show a lot of progress but I am hopeful)and a bumbo tray. You know, the bumbo’s that stupid parents sued the bumbo maker for b/c they put their kids on top of tables (which the bumbo package clearly says NOT to do) then predictably their kids threw themselves out of it. ANYways, not my point, my point is that the tray is really cool. It is like a mini-highchair! How cute! I’ll post of pic of Summit in it soon, my friends. He’s in it now actually next to me up hiiiiigh on the table. I put some toys on it. Now I’ve read the package and it doesn’t say to NOT leave children unattended. Hmmmm, my devious mind thinks, what if I “leave” Summit in the chair… high up on a table… and he happens to pull a houdini and throw himself out?? Is the bumbo “tray” still law suitally viable? For those of you horrified at what I’m writing… Geez. Don’t you freakin’ know me? I’d never do that! and since Summit has never attempted to throw himself out of the chair even WITHOUT the extra protection of the tray, I feel pretty safe here. AND I NEVER leave him unattended. Well, I’m back, what was I saying????
OK, on to the Insurance “Pearls”. I call it that b/c Insurance is a disgusting mess of slime and crap that nothing good ever comes out of…. almost never. A Pearl suddenly appeared for us… we think. We are going to have it tested today. My analogy is getting messy, I’ll just explain myself. We have been fighting with the insurance since Summit was born. Ben’s company changed insurances 2 weeks after Summit was born and the brilliant HR dept. didn’t tell us that Summit wouldnt be automatically transferred. We didn’t realize we had a bill until 3 months after Summit was born and we were handed a BIG bill, and we’ve been fighting since. The first insurance was denying to pay it b/c we exceeded the 30 day adding the kiddo rule and the new one was denying it rightfully so b/c he was never added. If I’ve learned anything from this it is that the world is full of horrible people who don’t care about you or your kid and they don’t care if the collecter is calling threating you with a lawsuit. Really. The world sucks. B/C of all this, his own pediatrician told me that they wouldn’t see Summit anymore when I tried to make an appt. for him when I was concerned about his eyes crossing. I’ve never taken anything so personally in my life. I’ve been talking to them all along and thought they understood we didn’t have the money and the insurance would pay. Well, I thought WRONG. Now the insurance miracleously said they would pay for all expenses for the first 30 days. That takes care of… well everything. We will have a very small bill that we can pay once this is settled. I want to yell at the horrible lady in billing at the pediatrician’s office and say very maturally “Told you so!” but I’m waiting until this goes through for sure. Even then, I’ll probably not yell. I’m going to write a letter to the office telling them I’ll never go back to them b/c of the way they made me feel when I was down. Thank God for working even in the darkest of places: Insurance Companies.
Gotta go, Summit is trying to throw himself out of his bubmo and even with the tray he’s looking like he may be sucessful after … crap… gotta go… 😉
