Since Monday was a “snow-day” I decided to have fun. NOt that I normally don’t have fun, I just thought I’d specifically try to have inTENTional fun. By making a TENT! for Summit! Yes! What is better than a cold, snowy day than hot coffee with tons of creamer and a TENT! I excitedly pulled out all my sheets and blankets and looked around my living room for the best location. Since my entertainment center is a huge unmovable beast, I decided to make that ground zero. I pulled a chair in the living room for cathedral ceilings inside my tent and used a crochet throw to have beautiful frosted windows. I finished quickly- I was a master tent builder in my youth- and crawled inside. Snickerdoodle and Rolo were also very excited and ran inside with me. They thought it was pretty stinking cool too.
I called to Summit to come partake in our fun as he was busily pulling every toy out of his home-made-cloth-covered-diaper-box toy chest. He smiled at my voice and crawled over to where we were hiding. And pulled off my crochet throw. I corrected him gently, explaining that tents are best enjoyed when they still have walls, fixed it, and then pulled him inside it. He crawled to the other wall and tried to pull it down. I held him in my lap, my attempts to explain the art of tent making and enjoyment were in vain as he struggled against my confining arms and reached for my crochet blanket again. Rolo watched in disgust. He calmed down and I sat him down in front of me. He sat still for a minute looking at the fabric ceiling in admiration. Then he laughed and tried to crawl over to my wall and pull it down again. I was a little saddened that Summit was failing to see the beauty of my tent. He just wanted to destroy it for his own amusement. I realize that he is a baby and all, but come on! There are tent builders and tent wreckers. I hope that with time that Summit will come to enjoy the art of tent building and enjoyment there of.
Enjoy the pic, crusty buggers in his nose and all!!!
