I had the privilege of getting to spend the weekend at a Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged. I am going to try not to over use the word ‘amazing’ here, but it’ll be hard!!!
For starters, I had no idea what to expect, I have never been to any to a blogger conference before. I’ve seen the big ones advertised by Twitter friends attending, but this was was for local people. I got an e-mail about it and was intrigued but because of difficult finances I knew I would be unable to attend. Happening to be on Twitter one night I saw a party devoted to the conference several people I followed were participating in and got so excited by the content I joined it! I answered a few questions and connected personally with a few people through direct e-mail. I had several things in common especially with one woman and told her why I was unable to attend but Jennifer Janes contacted the coordinates on my behalf- without me knowing- and they were able to secure me a scholarship! I knew it was meant to be when my husband was THRILLED for me! HAH!
Beth hosted us at Ozark Natural Science Center for the weekend and they weren’t kidding about it being unplugged!!! I found a seat in the cafeteria where I got 1 bar of service and was able to occasionally send and receive texts! I couldn’t believe how warm and friendly everyone was, so willing to share life experiences and information on blogging. I loved all of the work shops I attended and was a little sad that I couldn’t attend each and every one of them! The ladies of Collective Bias, NWAMotherloade, Murphy USA, SC Johnson and Elmers sponsored the event and along with Heinz, Fieldnotes, Ghirardelli, and Petit Jean Meats made the weekend enjoyable with food, prizes and gifts!
I have to say that I kind of felt like a celebrity. Swag bags, impressive work shops, free chocolate and booze… it was kind of perfect!
Thanks again to Elmer’s for sponsoring me and also providing us with TONS OF CRAFT SUPPLIES we used for craft night and that we also got to keep! WOOT WOOT! I seriously am typing here trying to think of who else to thank, it’s like I won an academy award and I’m trying to remember everyone but I just know I’ll forget something obvious… (at least I remembered to thank my husband!)
So, thanks to the wonderful Arkansas Women Bloggers who set this up- you guys were amazing on so many levels. Check out their blogs- The Park Wife, Eggs and Herbs and Instead of the Dishes.
