A Patch of Blue

I just watched one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen today. I’ve been watching Turner Classic movies because they have so much quality and usually very unquestionable material on there. A Patch of Blue is a 1965 film about the relationship between an African American man, Gordon (played by Sidney Poitier), and a blind white female teenager, Selina (Elizabeth Hartman), and the problems that plague their relationship when they fall in love in a racially divided America. Made against the backdrop of the growing civil rights movement, the film explores racism from the perspective of “love is blind.”

Beautiful but very painful at the same time.

That is such a good movie!

  • David and Katy

Isn’t there another one like that with Sydney Porter…same senario minus a blind girl…has Katherine Hepburn…anyways, that one is really good!
