The “murder” part of my title was actually the first murder mystery party I attended this last Saturday, not a real one. mwahahah! (A little bait and switchery for you!)It was at my house but I was not the hostess which was GREAT since Summit was sick. (more about that later…)It was so fun! It was for Lisa’s birthday, and I think I’ll have one for mine, it was a great idea and everyone that came was really into it. Now I want to go to another one. Hint Hint people! I was Cherry Bee, a thoroughly modern flapper girl who was the girlfriend to the deceased mob boss. I took upon it myself to include the fact she was a raging alcoholic and slurred my was though the night. I also won best dressed! lol! I guess the flapper dress with tons of pearls, a boa, fishnets, home-made headband and my great-grandmothers’ fur coat won the crowd. I get waaaay too into these kind of things as you can tell.

There are snakes in my backyard. For those of you who know me, I have a terrible phobia of snakes relating to a canoe trip 10 years ago on the Buffalo. And by the way, I live in the center of town- not snake country! In the fall Drew saw a snake when he mowed our back yard, and then in an Animal Planet moment, we saw a huge black snake eating a garter snake mere feet from our back porch. (We have some AMAZING pics of this!) I am no PETA member (as you may have deduced from me owning a fur coat) but I really love animals and as much as I despise snakes, I don’t want Ben to kill one unless it’s poisonous. Ben tried to tell me that black snakes are good but it lives under my bedroom. I don’t like that. What if it finds a hole in my house and creeps in… ahhhhh! the mere thought of that is too horrible to contemplate! Well, yesterday was lovely so I opened a window and Snickerdoodle and Rolo took advantage and sat on the window seal all day. We noticed they were very interested in something outside the window and Ben went to look and there was a snake poking out of the ground like 6 inches or so! It seriously looked like my yard was growing snakes. I didn’t know they could go that vertical!!! Maybe it was in it’s hole and then was able to stand up like that b/c it had support… I don’t know. Where the heck is the 5 ft. black snake when you need it?? It was another garter snake and it stayed like that for almost an hour before slithering off. I don’t want to go in my back yard anymore. Is it soooo mean of me to hope it freezes to death tonight??? That way I’m not responsible for its death.

And finally, Sick Kid. He had a really high fever on Saturday night, in the high 102 to mid 103 degrees. He’d been cranky all day and I went to see the Other Boleyn Girl so Ben had him. (I was actually happy to escape him for a few hours!) My brilliant mom felt his hot forhead and suggested he may be sick when Ben went to switch cars… I thought he was just warm b/c I’d let him sit in the sun for too long earlier. Oops. This was his first time to be really sick and I was pretty stressed. I called the ER to see how high of a temp. was dangerous, and they were really helpful. He did really well though, after screaming for a couple of hours, he went down for the night and was on a normal schedule. YAY! I was praising GOD I didn’t have to stay up all night with a sick kid. Then comes last night… he was up until 3 am, then up at 7 am. I used the crap out of the swing while he was sick. Thank God he’s in the bottom 5% and thus can still use his swing!! 😉

I dumped half a bowl of salsa all over my jeans and in my shoe last night in my car. Ben literally hosed me off at the car wash. Don’t ask.
PS. I hate the whole sweat pant/jeans tucked into one’s uggs fashion right now. It looks crappy but I’m big enough to admit that if I owned a pair I’d probably do it too.
