3 Bags in 2 Days

I love raising awareness for great, local programs when I can. Part of the reason that I put the “Blemish is Beauty” button on my sidebar was to link to a great resource for people with special needs children or people with a heart for children with disabilities. One of the things I love most about those people is the fact that although they serve locally, their ministry reaches out over oceans as well.

That being said, one of the best ways to serve locally is through the foster care system.  Specifically the 3bags 2 days program is amazing because it services children in a real, tangible way by providing basic necessities. When a child is taken from their home without any belongings, even for great reasons, they are being stripped of comfort and everything normal to them. They are scared and alone. My church youth is thrilled to partner with them -here is what they have to say about what they do:

3B2D: Our mission is to provide bags of basic necessities to those living in poverty. Our vision is to provide a sense of dignity and respect to those who receive a bag. The key is to be able to build lasting relationships and provide bags that aid in the restoration of hope in Northwest Arkansas and around the world.

New Heights Student Ministry: Our mission is to shape students into passionate Disciples of Christ.

Our vision is to transform culture through the Gospel in context. The key is Christ centered mentoring and peer relationships that model passion and obedience to Jesus.

Christmas Bags for CASA foster children

Over the next 3 weeks nhsm will be partnering with 3B2D to put together bags of basic hygiene necessities for 150 – 200 foster children in Northwest Arkansas.

“When [kids] enter foster care, they usually enter with just the clothes on their backs. It is a pretty scary thing. Most of these kids don’t have their own personal items. A lot of these students, when asked what they want for Christmas, don’t say anything extravagant, it is typically socks and hygiene items. We are going to try and provide bags of personal hygiene items to the kids who are 11 and up! “

What Do We Need?

We are looking for full sized & unused bottles and packages of the following items. Either name brand or off brand items are acceptable.

Shampoo
Conditioner
Deodorant
Face wash
Body Wash

If we work together we can make a REAL difference in the lives of foster children in Northwest ARKANSAS.

If you have hygiene products you want to drop off you can bring them to the

I don’ t know a  lot about this program but know it’s providing real solutions for some of the “forgotten” people. If you don’t live locally, find a local shelter, they need your help too! Thank you!

Great point Heidi!! And what a great ministry! People often don’t think about these daily necessities & how vital they are. I know often the greatest need is for underwear for both male & females. Our church hosted an “Undie Sunday” for a month for ppl to bring new underwear to donate. :)
